When I decided that I had to quit the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my determination to smoke or to quit. Otherwise what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to maintaining my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The health and financial costs of a smoking addiction makes the decision to continue one you cant really justify in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you enjoy.
After I made my list I hung this list up on my shower mirror and also on my bedroom door. I wanted everyday to see my reasons for changing my behavior this aided a lot since quitting smoking is a decision one has to establish everyday. When you stop smoking you have to expect there will be times when you will error but in the times past that I backslid, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I slipped and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.
The instant I saw the bathroom scales go up I made sure to workout more and not to substitute eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with something I usually wouldn't do for myself. In the event I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette use always goes down. I can't say that I do not think about smoking occasionally and perhaps always will but I always remind myself that what you save is both money and health. Your clothes don't stink of smoke your hair does not reek of smoke and you can taste the food you eat. You can also put the hard cash you would have used for punching smokes into a bank account and watch it add up.
